In India, the number of boys getting treated in the hospital is more than that of girls suffering from cancer.
According to the report of ‘The Lancet Oncology’, the possible reason for this is gender discrimination in the society.
This has been confirmed by the data of patients aged 0-19 years from the hospitals of 3 cancer centres.

New Delhi. Boys in India are more likely to be hospitalized for cancer than girls and this is likely due to gender discrimination in society. In a study published in The Lancet Oncology, a medical research journal, researchers used personal data of patients aged 0-19 years from hospital records of three cancer centers in India between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2019. mobilized. Along with this, they also used data from two population-based cancer registries.

For which data from the PBCR in Delhi between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2014 and the Madras Metropolitan Tumor Registry between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2017 were used. Researchers from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Cancer Institute (WIA) Chennai examined the male and female sex ratio from the data of three hospitals in the respective PBCRs. So that it can be ascertained that how many boys suffering from cancer are being treated as compared to every girl undergoing treatment.

The research team separately examined the male and female ratio of patients undergoing stem cell transplant. Which is a very expensive process used in the treatment of cancer.
